Republican Representative Mark Walker apparently set the stage for more open discrimination in the workplace by leading his search for Democratic Representative Patrick J. Conroy’s replacement as chaplain of the House of Representatives with the condition of a preference for a chaplain with children.
In Why Do We Need a Chaplain in Congress Anyway, Rachel K. Laser reported that some believe Walker merely prefers to install an “Evangelical Christian” into the position. Perhaps it’s a little of both: either one being a form of discrimination.
